Lovely friend,

Have you had a good summer? Or winter, depending on where you live? I'm feeling the cooler embrace of Fall here in the Great North. The season of change is upon us.

I am getting more used to change and going with the flow of it. Honesty, it was a kind of crazy summer for me. Numerous times I made the circuit between Traverse City, Grand Rapids and Ann Arbor, spending time with and caring for both my daughter and my mom who struggled with health issues. I continue to be part of the care-taking sandwich. ;-) Just when you think things will be more predictable and stable, life shifts. I carry this mantra in my heart because I've learned that the only constant in life is change. "Change is inevitable, growth is optional." I choose to grow. You?

Other changes I weathered and grew through:

My husband "semi-retired" in July. I finished one of my doctoral classes. We hosted a lot of company. I wrote a book. I revamped my website. I dove head-long into leading weekend retreats again at the most soulful place. I revised and relaunched my most popular offering, "Beads of Wisdom 3.0." It was a very busy summer!

I got used to being on the go again, but found that I sometimes missed myself along the way. Which brings me to the topic of this month's newsletter: "Come Back to Center." If you've had a dizzying few months, I invite you to re-orient yourself. Turn back toward you. Settle down. Re-focus on your inner life. This issue's Guided Meditation can help you do just that. May you weather all of life's changes with ease and grace. With a little luck and a bit of practice, we may even thrive through them with gratitude and joy! Wouldn't that be nice?

All Love,

Jan

"What Are You Teaching Online this Fall?"
This has been the BIG question everyone's been asking me, wondering if they should sign up for something to quench that back-to-school thirst. So here's the scoop.

In two weeks, I will be launching an innovative and exciting program on how to heal yourself and your life with self-compassion. It's called "The Kindest Thing," and it will be FREE to all subscribers. It is a print-audio-video offering, sent to your Inbox twice a week. It will include an online community of kindred spirits on FB. I'm hoping, with your help that "The Kindest Thing" can become a worldwide phenomena, making self-compassion a household practice, once and for all.

Stay tuned for the big announcement!
"When I extend kindness toward myself, I open up and soften. I become more hospitable, which, ultimately, allows me to be more hospitable and kind toward others. Healing myself, I heal the world." (from My Deepest Me)
Autumn 2015 Programs & 2016 Retreats
Registration is now open for daylong and weekend retreats, including the all NEW "Kindest Thing" retreats I'll be offering at The Inn at the Rustic Gate, a retreat center of excellence in central Michigan.

"In the midst of your busy day, no matter where you are, stop. Look around. Attune your eyes to the beautiful physicality of this planet. Listen. Attune your hearing to the refrains of nature. Allow your senses to rise and help you greet the day with gratitude for the great blessing of being here. Just here."      (from Beads of Wisdom 3.0)
