Let's Get Back to Basics, Shall We?
Lovely Friend,

My passion is over the moon about this and I'm so eager to share my "new" focus with you.

Though it's not really new, it's more like "Back to Basics": what we need to be healthy and happy on the deepest level, and what I know will ultimately transform our world into a peaceful and loving place.

It's self-compassion, and it's the missing ingredient in our lives—from self-care to healthcare to family care. We are simply not in touch with how being kinder toward ourselves helps.

Self-compassion is a learned skill of extending tenderness toward ourselves in moments of suffering. The practice of self-compassion invites us to open our hearts and embrace ourselves as we are, in this very moment.

Self-compassion is what I did NOT have for myself for most of my life. I had to learn how to care for myself in a gentler way so I'd be well, happy, and productive. I did this by learning how to choose "the kindest thing" for myself over and over again. Initially self-compassion looked like good self-care, but then it expanded. It actually became a life-path because it uprooted ego and cultivated the virtues to which I aspired: inner calm, clarity, generosity, love and joy.

Since 1994, all of my work in the world has been infused with the message of self-compassion, but it was not my primary focus. It's time to change all that. It's Back to Basics time!

I've made a commitment: for the next two years (at least), 2016-17, my sole focus in life and work will be to deepen in self-compassion and to help others do the same by teaching "The Kindest Thing.

What is "The Kindest Thing"?
"The Kindest Thing" is a radical act of self-compassion.
In the midst of daily life, especially when you are struggling with anything,  ask yourself this very important question:

"What is the kindest thing I can do for myself in this moment?"

Then do it!

The problem is:

How do you know what IS the kindest thing to do?

Learning how to choose "The Kindest Thing" will begin HERE each week. I'll send you a message containing a short video showing you how to transform your life with gentleness and kindness. If you take this guidance to heart, within weeks your life could feel very different. Stress reduced. Health improved. Relationships happier. Work more fulfilling. Compassion filling your heart and fueling all your efforts!

"The Kindest Thing" weekly message is a FREE offering and you are already subscribed as a member of my list.

(This "newsletter" is replacing the Awakened Living newsletter you received previously.)

Back to Basics!

My highest hope is that "The Kindest Thing" will become the way we ALL choose to live with ourselves and one another; that "The Kindest Thing" will become a household phrase and a global movement. "The Kindest Thing" is a very large work in progress and, slowly but surely—gently and kindly!—it is being birthed.

There will be a new website launched in the next few weeks with plenty of resources to help you be self-compassionate (especially during life's difficult moments). Retreats have already been set up. Other online offerings, a blog, and Facebook page will roll out soon.

"The Kindest Thing" video message will arrive in your Inbox each Wednesday, so stay tuned. Thanks so much for joining me in this wonderful cause!

May you be as kind to yourself as you are to others,
Jan Lundy

When I extend kindness toward myself, I open up and soften. I become more hospitable, which, ultimately, allows me to be more hospitable and kind toward others. Healing myself, I heal the world.
