How Do You Know What Is the Kindest Thing to Do? |
Welcome to my weekly video newsletter!
Do you know what it means to be self-compassionate? Most of us learn this the hard way as a result of NOT being compassionate, nor kind, to ourselves. We become overly stressed, sick with worry, exhausted, impatient, irritated, in conflict with others, or just plain unhappy. We are simply not in touch with how being kinder toward ourselves helps. Self-compassion is a learned skill of
extending suffering toward ourselves, especially in moments of difficulty.
This week's video may answer your question, "How do I know what the kindest thing is to do for myself when life feels difficult?"
"Kindest Thing" Video Vol. 2 "How do I know what is the kindest thing to do for myself?" |
This week, experiment using the question, "What is the kindest thing I can do for myself in this moment?" and see what answer comes. Are you able to actually stop the momentum of
what's happening and DO the kindest thing? What did you notice when you did? Or did you have difficulty taking this step?
Whatever the result, keep
trying. Do so gently and patiently. We have so much to unlearn from our upbringing and from internalizing society's message to "press on!"
Let us be as gentle and kind to ourselves as we are to others.
