Welcome to this week's self-compassion video.
When life feels difficult and we are upset, we initially feel this distress in our body. Something clenches, tenses, or hurts. Our body, therefore, tells us in no uncertain terms that we are peaceful or in angst. Most of us feel this in our stomach, head, neck, shoulders or stress.
Self-soothing practices—practices that send messages of relaxation, security and compassion to the body—are vital for our inner peace. They are also essential for our present and future well-being. Using them repeatedly, even several times a day if we need to, will begin to "rewire" us and shift how we respond (not react) to the world around us.
This week's "Kindest Thing" video, "Tender Touch," is all about soothing those ouchy spaces in your body-mind to bring comfort and relief. Self-soothing is a very powerful way to show yourself the TLC you need when life feels difficult.
Enjoy and have a soothingly, kind week.
