Welcome to this week's self-compassion video.
Are you a woman with a health challenge? So many of us are! 1 in 2 American adults have a chronic issue they are dealing with.
I get real in this video
and share some things about my own health and well-being that I've not shared publicly before. For me, self-compassion has been a healing balm for my health challenges and has allowed me to have an extraordinary quality of life.
What has a daily
focus on self-compassion done for me?
• not feel selfish when I need extra care or rest
• not feel ashamed or weak that I
can't do what other people can do
• say Yes to myself when I need to and No to obligations or requests
• opt out of other people's drama and care for
myself
• keep my heart open to life as it is
• reduce stress and inflammation in my body
• and more
And, as I share in this video, my self-compassion doubled—tripled!—when my youngest daughter was diagnosed with chronic illness and pain at the age of 22.
"Life is so very challenging, how can we be anything but kind?" taught the Buddha. Indeed, it is. How can we not be?
If you are a woman with health challenges (or know someone who is), I hope this week's video will touch your heart.

leading TOGETHER (what fun!) beginning June 22:
