Welcome to this week's self-compassion video.
As you may know, my big Fall online program—a Sadhana—is focused on
I'll be the first to admit I have some pretty strong feelings about how aging is perceived in our culture. I dislike the pressure our culture puts on women, especially, to look so youthful. A youthful spirit, yes! A strong and healthy body and mind, yes! Attuned
to a higher purpose, becoming a sage, yes! Enjoying life to the fullest, absolutely!
In the broadest sense, our society's stance on aging is in need of a reality check. And because we have all fallen victim to so many
unhealthy viewpoints on aging, WE are in need of healthy doses of self-compassion!
Today's video features my thoughts on the big WAKE-UP call many of us might experience about aging that an expert in this field calls "Lightning Strikes."
If you have had a Lightning Strikes moment,
I hope you will take some time to reflect on how YOU are currently feeling about your unique aging process. Are you struggling with it? Welcoming it? Are you aging gracefully or with frustration? Do you feel limited or expansive?
I DO want to age well and kindly, with grace and dignity. I do NOT want to fight myself all
along the way. So far, for me, my aging years have been about finding greater freedom around who I am and how I choose to live. I have also given great thought to what I still need to heal and let go; what I need to strengthen and embrace.
What about you? How are holding and experiencing your
aging?
And, of course, if you'd like some companionship exploring all of this and support while doing so, I am here to help.
May all of the days of your life be gentle ones,
Jan
