Apathy or Lack of Passion

Welcome to this week's self-compassion video.

The final entry in my 4-part series on "The Four P's" that its wise to acknowledge to we can engage in good compassionate, self-care. Last week, we talked about Perfectionism.

Today's video features #4: Lack of Passion

We are passionate about so many things, but are we passionate about our own well-being? When you're busy and too tired, it's hard to get juicily jazzed about taking good care of yourself. When stress hits, sometimes it's just easier to turn on the TV and eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's! A choice like this might feel like nurturing in the moment but, in the long-run, it's not a kind choice at all.

Cultivating passion for ourselves involves making choices that bring deep care, respite, and even joy. It's ok to be passionate about "Me Time." Everyone else gets a slice of your time,  how about you? It is up to us to find the right amount of time we need to refuel and replenish ourself, otherwise we will end up depleted and, ultimately, unhappy. Who wants that?

May you find ways to en-joy your luscious self, today, OK?

Love and blessings,
Jan

"If we can begin to schedule in regular amounts of "Me Time," and build on that private time, we need not reach such levels of depletion."

"Embracing Our Aging
as a Spiritual Practice"
~ A Sadhana for mid-life, later-in-life & elder-women ~

Begins October 5!

Aging is something many of us struggle with in our Western, youth-based culture. We have bought into myths and despairing mindsets about what it means to age, thereby causing ourselves stress and impairing what can be a deeply rich, meaningful time of life.

In this 5-week Sadhana/course, we will explore our feelings about how each of us is uniquely aging. We will compassionately explore our attitudes about aging—both personal and societal; unpack our struggles and accept the wonderful invitations that aging brings: freedom, contentment, courage, openness, delight, and wisdom.

Foundational to this program will be the practice of self-compassion (in its many forms). As we age, there is much the body/mind/spirit goes through that can be handled more kindly, gracefully, with mindfulness, loving-kindness and humor!
