Dear Friend in Growth,

There is new life beginning to bloom everywhere I look. Spring's invitation is subtle with the tiniest of purple flowers carpeting the ground. It is also powerful, with strong winds and rains pushing, pelting, scattering autumn's remnants far and wide.

On the level of intention (and inner being), Spring whispers and shouts simultaneously. It says, "Listen to me. It's time to let go of what doesn't serve you. Clean out, clear out!" It also says, "Listen deeply and pay attention to what is possible. How do you really want to live? What is your next dream for yourself?"

I am listening—deeply—and I am hearing things I've never heard before. I am also paying attention to long-held hopes and making the commitment to let them blossom into reality. What about you?

The Persian poet Rumi said,

“The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you
Don't go back to sleep!
You must ask for what you really want.
Don't go back to sleep!"

This, I believe, is the invitation of a "Soul Spring." Listen, choose, and courageously act. Align yourself with your divine purpose. Step into the next highest version of yourself. Hear what "the breezes at dawn" have to say and act on them.

This month, I did exactly that. It felt brave and bold to do so. For many years, I have wanted to be involved in the training of  spiritual directors (guides), though in my own unique way—with an interfaith/interspiritual focus. I spoke this dream aloud to a dear friend and colleague a while back and she heard my longing, mostly because she had a similar one! Last week, our mutually held dream became a reality as we launched The Spiritual Guidance Training Institute.
We didn't know how big our vision really was until our research showed that we would be the ONLY training program of its kind in the world—one that offers certification in interfaith AND interspiritual guidance. (There are a handful of interfaith programs in the U.S., but nothing like the one we've put together; a distance learning program with two residential institutes in the Midwest.) Exciting!

Do fear and self-doubt rise up when you are on the edge of possibilities? You bet they do! Both Jeanette and I experienced this.
Did we lose sight of our dream? Occasionally. But we kept listening to our heart's desire to be of service to others; to find a way to educate others how to listen, provide compassionate presence, and spiritual guidance across traditions—beyond all borders, breaking through boundaries—to live in ultimate freedom with mercy for one another. Perhaps you would like to join us in this noble cause.

Indeed, what is spring whispering to you? What do you want to give birth to within yourself and in the world? Greater love, forgiveness, inner peace? A new professional calling?

In spring, anything is possible. I hope you believe this too! May you be brave and bold to act courageously and make real what lives in your heart. May divine light and strength surround you as you do. May Love hold you.

Would like to be trained
as a spiritual guide?
If you have an interfaith/interspiritual heart, then we invite you to peruse the new website, The Spiritual Guidance Training Institute ,to find out how you could become a spiritual guide (director) with a leading edge focus.

There is a growing need for "professionals" in this field. Training in spiritual guidance across traditions--interfaith--and being able to step into the mystery of the depths of individual spiritual experience--interspiritual--allows an individual to offer the deepest empathy and care to anyone with whom they interact.

This interfaith and interspiritual approach to formal presence training is the most comprehensive way to both deepen and advance spiritual understanding and care in our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and religious communities. (Read more)

Please consider joining us and don't hesitate to e-mail me for a phone chat if you have questions. Delighted to talk with you about this! We begin August 12 in Chicago.
