Thanksgiving blessings to my
American friends!
And if you are not celebrating Thanksgiving, many blessings to you as well.
"In an ancient Buddhist story, the Buddha’s faithful attendant, Ananda, asked about the importance of having wholesome companions. Ananda asked the Buddha whether having noble friends and companions wasn’t half of the holy life. The Buddha replied: “Do not say so, Ananda. Noble friends and companions are the whole of the holy life.”
(SN 45.2, Bhikkhu Bodhi)*
I believe this with my whole heart and that is why I wanted to extend my goodwill to you today. I am deeply grateful that we are connected; that we continue to journey together and deepen our understanding of self and Spirt, as well as how to live nobly in the world. I appreciate YOU and your faithfulness to your spiritual journey. Staying awake—compassionate and kind— in a world that often seems to have gone mad is a journey for
courageous souls. I am glad that we are walking the earth together at this time!
I'd like to offer you a short affirmation you can use (saying it silently to yourself) as you gather with loved ones this week:
I am a being of love.
I am here to bear the beams of love for the healing of all people.
In so doing, I choose to treat others as kindly and lovingly
as I treat myself.
Nothing holds me back from expressing this
love. I release all hesitation, all feelings of self-consciousness or fear about doing so. Divine Presence will hold me and guide me as I live out this sacred mission.* May your days with family and friends be beautiful and bright!
Bountiful blessings upon one and all.
